Corruption or Dedication?

Tun Dr. Mahathir,

I find concurrence with the comment by ultraboy in this blog.

What you called "corruption" in this blog could also be called "dedication" or "dedikasi" in Malay - my version of interpretation is not "daddy kasi" but is "dia ada kasi".

One day when I was in the government office to see a high ranking officer, I was impatient to wait any much longer and started to ask a "kerani" at the front desk. I wondered why I usually had to queue up for a much longer time than other visitors in this office. I asked, "Cik, cuba tanya sikit. Kenapa dia lambat datang tapi dapat jumpa pegawai dulu? I dah lama tunggu tapi belum sempat masuk jumpa pegawai lagi!" The "kerani" was not bothered to look at me but just murmured, "Dia ada kasi!"

This is the by-product of about 34 years' implementation of New Economic Policy (NEP) of Malaysia. Almost every Malay saw "dia ada kasi" as the legitimate way for redistribution of wealth as promoted by NEP. No one politician from BN so far will find a strong ethical justification to wage war against corruption in Malaysia. Any ethical rationale will just be rebuked easily like what the former IGP, Tan Sri Rahim Noor, said in 1998, "The police is just asking for RM50 kopi o money only and people already start to make so much noise about it. Why do people choose to keep quiet when the top politician is allowed to get hundreds of million ringgit profit through the upfront money by simply giving out award of one or two government projects to a contractor?"

Tun, if you are not the starter of corruption problem in Malaysia, then you definitely cannot deny that you are the aggravator of it!

Getting Petronas to bail out Mirzan and getting Daim to bail out Mokhzani - that's not corruption ?

it is not corruption. it is "dedication - dedikasi". read - daddy kasi.
